Mera Peak

Overview

Mera Peak (6,476m/21,247ft) is high enough to be seriously challenging but does not require serious mountaineering skills being one of the least demanding peaks of this altitude. Let Himalayan Glacier guide you to the summit of this popular peak; neck high to the famous Himalayan giants. This peak rises to the South of Everest and dominates the beautiful and remote valleys of Hinku and Hunku. The ascent to this peak is made from the Mera La pass (5,415m/17,766ft) on the Northern Face, which connects the unpopulated valley of Hunku to the Hinku valley. The late Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tensing were the first climbers to conquer Mera Peak following this very route on 20th May 1953.

You are rewarded with panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Cho-Oyu (8,201m/26,906ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Makalu (8,463m/27,766ft), Kangchenjunga (8,586m/28,169ft), Nuptse (7,855m/25,770ft), Chamlang (7,319m/24,013ft). Cross Mingbo La (5815m/19074ft) and walking through the Hinku Valley; the fantastic view South Face of Ama Dablam. Being so lofty, reaching the summit really feels like an achievement.
