This morning, we’ll immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of San Jose with a guided city tour. We'll explore both business districts and residential areas, giving you a true sense of the city's diverse and beautiful architecture. We'll admire colonial mansions, many of which have been transformed into trendy museums and galleries. We’ll also visit the iconic Bellavista Fortress, with its bright yellow turrets and historical significance as a reminder of Costa Rica’s past. Today, it houses the National Museum. In the city center, we’ll stop by the stunning National Theatre, completed in 1897 and modeled after the Paris Opera House.

Today's journey is a scenic adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Braulio Carrillo National Park as we travel to Tortuguero. We'll pass volcanic mountains, untouched tropical rainforests, and sprawling banana plantations. Once we arrive, we'll navigate the winding Tortuguero Canals, rich with rare and unusual flora and fauna. Finally, we reach our eco-lodge, nestled amidst rivers, lakes, wetlands, and lush jungle. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Tortuguero village and visit the Turtle Preservation Centre. If we're fortunate, we might witness turtle nesting or hatching, which occurs between July and December.

We’ll start the day by delving into the stunning Tortuguero Canals, a unique network of natural and man-made waterways. This area is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, with a diverse range of species including birds, monkeys, sloths, and toucans, as well as a variety of orchids. The afternoon is free for you to relax at our eco-lodge or to embark on a guided walk for further exploration.

This morning, we depart our lodge by boat and continue by coach through the plains of the San Carlos region, the heart of Costa Rica. This area is known for its thriving agricultural and livestock smallholdings. Our destination is Arenal, home to the famous Arenal Volcano.

Today, we travel to the small village of Los Chiles, the gateway to the Rio Frio and Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. Here, we’ll embark on a floating safari through tropical rainforest and pastures. Cano Negro is one of Costa Rica’s richest areas in terms of biological diversity, so keep an eye out for various resident and migratory birds, as well as spider monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths, and ocelots.

This morning, we depart Arenal and journey to Monteverde, located along the continental divide at an elevation of 5,000 feet. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Butterfly Gardens, where we’ll observe and learn about these beautiful insects before enjoying some free time to explore.

Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You can relax and explore the lush surroundings, or opt for an adventure into the cloud forest canopy with an optional excursion. The Sky Walk, featuring hanging bridges, trails, and platforms above the forest floor, offers an incredible opportunity to experience the forest from a unique perspective.

This morning, we’ll explore a private reserve within the Cloud Forest, where you'll have the chance to spot the vividly colored quetzal. Afterward, we’ll journey back to San Jose, stopping in the picturesque town of Sarchi, known for its elaborately painted oxcarts.

Today, we head to the airport for our flight to Panama City, which may be indirect. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel for a three-night stay. The rest of the day is yours to explore or relax.

Today, we embark on an unforgettable cruise through a section of the Panama Canal. Begun by the Spanish in 1534 and completed by the American Government in 1904, the Panama Canal is a marvel of engineering. As we navigate through the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks, you'll have the unique experience of cruising alongside massive ocean-going vessels. We'll also pass through the Gaillard Cut, one of the most dramatic sections of the canal, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest teeming with wildlife.

Panama City, a cultural hub and the most cosmopolitan city in Central America, offers a rich blend of history and modernity. This morning, we’ll explore the city on a guided tour, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Panama Viejo Historical Monument Complex, the Historic District, the Presidential Palace, and the cathedral. Our tour concludes at the Causeway, where you can enjoy splendid views of the Miraflores locks of the Panama Canal.

Today, we transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
