Chiloe is in the second largest archipelago in South America after Tierra del Fuego (also in Chile). It is a place that is steeped in tradition and is notable for its genuine charm and the hospitality of its inhabitants, the Chilotes. It is a unique destination where visitors can find colorful palafitos (houses built on stilts), breathtaking landscapes and centuries-old wooden churches, 16 of which have UNESCO World Heritage status.
To reach the island, visitors must first take a flight directly to Puerto Montt Airport (1 hour 40 minutes). From there, it is a 45 minute drive south to Pargua to board one of the ferries that crosses the Chacao Channel (crossing time no more than 40 minutes).
Chiloe can be visited all year around.
