Day 1 : DEPARTURE FROM LONDON HEATHROW – ARRIVAL IN PANAMA CITY

Your exciting journey begins as you depart from London Heathrow on a long-haul flight bound for Panama City, the bustling capital of Panama. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our local representative and escorted to your hotel, where you can settle in and relax after your journey. As you drive through the city, you’ll catch glimpses of the contrasting architecture—sleek skyscrapers standing side by side with colonial-era buildings, a perfect metaphor for the blend of old and new that defines Panama City. Enjoy your first evening in this dynamic city, perhaps venturing out for a walk along the picturesque waterfront.

Day 2 : EXPLORE PANAMA CITY AND THE PANAMA CANAL

This morning, embark on a guided tour of Panama City, Central America’s most cosmopolitan metropolis, known for its blend of modern and historical elements. Your tour will take you through the charming old quarter of San Felipe, where colonial-era buildings with peeling facades stand amidst beautiful plazas and cobblestone streets. As you wander through the narrow lanes, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time, but look to the horizon and you’ll see the towering skyscrapers of the city’s modern district. You will also visit Panama Viejo, the site of the city’s original settlement, which was sacked by the infamous pirate Henry Morgan in 1671.

In the afternoon, you will head to one of Panama’s most famous landmarks—the Panama Canal—where you will witness the incredible engineering feat of the Miraflores Locks. This colossal waterway, completed in 1914, reshaped the global trade map, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Visit the canal's state-of-the-art visitor center to learn about its history, construction, and its continued role in international commerce.

Day 3 : JOURNEY TO THE HIGHLANDS OF BOQUETE

Leave behind the vibrant city life of Panama City as you take a domestic flight west to the city of David. Upon arrival, board a private bus for the ascent to the cool, misty highland town of Boquete. The journey takes you through Panama’s lush cloud forests and rolling hills, providing breathtaking views of the Barú volcano, which dominates the skyline. Known for its crisp mountain air and coffee plantations, Boquete is a peaceful haven surrounded by verdant landscapes. After checking in to your hotel, enjoy an evening at leisure, perhaps sampling some of the region’s famed coffee.

Day 4 : TRAVEL TO COSTA RICA’S CARIBBEAN COAST

This morning, you will continue your adventure by traveling to the northern reaches of Panama and crossing into Costa Rica. As you make your way through the dense, tropical rainforest, you’ll pass through mountainous terrain before descending to the coast. Once you’ve crossed the border at Sixaola, you’ll journey through vast tropical plantations and arrive at the idyllic beach town of Cahuita, renowned for its volcanic sand beaches and laid-back Afro-Caribbean culture. Enjoy your evening relaxing by the coast, soaking in the serene atmosphere.

Day 5 : JOURNEY TO SARAPIQUí – NATURE AND ADVENTURE AWAITS

Today, travel further inland to Sarapiquí, a small town tucked between banana and pineapple plantations. This region is known for its spectacular national parks, lush rainforests, and abundant wildlife. As you settle into your lodge, you’ll be surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, with exotic birds calling and wildlife hidden amidst the dense canopy. Sarapiquí is an adventurer’s paradise, offering activities such as rafting on the Rio Sarapiquí, hiking through national parks, or simply relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

Day 6 : EXPLORE SARAPIQUí – WILDLIFE, BIRDWATCHING, AND ADVENTURE

Spend the day exploring the lush, wildlife-filled forests of Sarapiquí. You can start your morning with a guided hike through one of the national parks, where you’ll walk along trails that lead through the dense jungle and across hanging bridges. From the treetops, you’ll have a unique perspective on the rainforest and its vibrant inhabitants, including colorful toucans, hummingbirds, and sloths. In the afternoon, opt for an exciting rafting adventure on the Rio Sarapiquí, or take a more leisurely boat trip along the river to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and spot wildlife along the riverbanks.

Day 7 : JOURNEY TO MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST – PART 1

Leave Sarapiquí behind as you travel by bus to the world-renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest. Nestled in the misty mountains of Costa Rica, Monteverde is a paradise for nature lovers and home to the rare and resplendent quetzal, a stunning bird with iridescent feathers. Upon arrival in the small town of Santa Elena, check into your eco-lodge and spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring the town. As dusk falls, you may want to take an optional night tour, where you’ll see the cloud forest come alive with nocturnal creatures.

Day 8 : DISCOVER MONTEVERDE – PART 2

Today, you’ll have a full day to explore the magical Monteverde Cloud Forest and its rich biodiversity. A guided tour will take you deep into the forest, where you’ll learn about the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this misty ecosystem. Walk along the hanging bridges for a bird’s-eye view of the forest canopy, or take an optional canopy zip-line tour for a thrilling experience. In the afternoon, you may choose to visit a nearby butterfly farm or a local coffee plantation to learn about the region’s famous coffee production.

Day 9 : CROSS INTO NICARAGUA – OMETEPE ISLAND

This morning, you’ll cross the border from Costa Rica into Nicaragua, continuing your journey northward. After a scenic drive, you’ll arrive at San Jorge, where a ferry will take you across the tranquil waters of Lake Nicaragua to Ometepe Island, a serene island formed by two towering volcanoes. Ometepe’s unspoiled landscapes, traditional villages, and ancient petroglyphs offer a peaceful escape from the modern world. Settle into your hotel and enjoy the island’s laid-back atmosphere.

Day 10 : EXPLORE OMETEPE ISLAND – PART 1

Begin your exploration of Ometepe Island with a visit to the island’s famous petroglyphs and pre-Columbian statues, remnants of the Chorotega civilization. Continue to the Charco Verde Nature Reserve, where you’ll wander through lush forests and spot wildlife like monkeys and exotic birds. In the afternoon, enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of Ojo de Agua, a natural pool surrounded by jungle.

Day 11 : EXPLORE OMETEPE ISLAND – PART 2

On your second day in Ometepe, you can choose from several activities. For those seeking adventure, hike the trails up one of Ometepe’s two volcanoes—Concepción and Maderas—which offer panoramic views of the island and lake. Alternatively, visit one of the island’s many coffee cooperatives or go horseback riding through the lush countryside.

Day 12 : TRAVEL TO COLONIAL GRANADA

After a peaceful morning on Ometepe Island, you will take a ferry back to the mainland and drive to the Spanish colonial city of Granada. Once one of the wealthiest cities in Latin America, Granada is filled with beautiful colonial architecture and charming cobblestone streets. Upon arrival, enjoy an informal walking tour with your guide to discover the city’s historic landmarks and hidden gems.

Day 13 : VISIT MASAYA NATIONAL PARK

Today, you’ll explore the stunning landscapes of Masaya National Park, home to the active Masaya Volcano and beautiful crater lakes. You’ll also visit the nearby town of Masaya, known for its vibrant handicraft market where you can purchase traditional Nicaraguan crafts like handmade hammocks and ceramics.

Day 14 : DISCOVER LEóN – NICARAGUA’S POLITICAL HEART

Journey north to the colonial city of León, another of Nicaragua’s historical treasures. As a liberal stronghold during colonial times, León played a pivotal role in the country’s political history. Spend the afternoon exploring its cobbled streets, majestic plazas, and ornate churches, all set against the backdrop of the imposing Momotombo Volcano.

Day 15 : CROSS INTO EL SALVADOR – JOURNEY THROUGH HONDURAS

An early start today as you cross the border into Honduras and continue into El Salvador, Central America’s least-visited country. As you travel through this often-overlooked gem, you’ll marvel at the beauty of its mountains, fields, and historical sites. By evening, you’ll arrive at the port of La Unión, a peaceful fishing town that sits astride the Gulf of Fonseca. Enjoy a dinner of pupusas, El Salvador’s national dish—delicious stuffed corn tortillas served with tangy cabbage slaw.

Day 16 : TRAVEL TO SUCHITOTO – PART 1

Leave La Unión behind as you journey north to the charming colonial town of Suchitoto. Located just outside of San Salvador, this hidden gem boasts colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and vibrant local markets. Day 18 : VISIT THE MAYAN RUINS OF COPáN – PART 1

Cross back into Honduras for a visit to the ancient Mayan ruins of Copán, one of the most important archaeological sites in the region. Nestled in the hills of western Honduras, Copán is famous for its intricately carved stelae and hieroglyphic stairway, which tell the story of the city’s rise to prominence in the Mayan world.

Day 19 : VISIT THE MAYAN RUINS OF COPáN – PART 2

Spend the second day exploring more of the Copán complex, visiting the newly opened museum and taking a walk through the peaceful countryside surrounding the ruins. In the afternoon, you may opt to visit nearby hot springs for a relaxing soak after a day of exploring ancient history.

Day 20 : CROSS INTO GUATEMALA – PART 1

Today, you’ll cross the border into Guatemala, where you’ll immediately feel a change in the atmosphere as you climb into the cool highlands. Known as the “Land of Eternal Spring,” this region of Guatemala is home to a large Mayan population that has preserved many of its traditional ways of life. Your destination today is Antigua, a beautiful colonial city nestled between three towering volcanoes.

Day 21 : DISCOVER ANTIGUA – PART 2

Spend your final day exploring Antigua, wandering through its cobblestone streets and leafy plazas. Antigua is renowned for its Spanish colonial architecture, with many of its convents and churches partially ruined by past volcanic eruptions. Enjoy a guided tour of the city, visiting some of its most famous landmarks, or simply relax in one of the city’s charming cafés as you reflect on your journey.
