Begin your exploration in Lima’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with historic charm and magnificent architecture from the Spanish colonial era. Wander through the colonial core, where the grandiose buildings of the Spanish Empire tell stories of a bygone era.

Your journey takes you to the Cathedral of Lima, an awe-inspiring structure that embodies centuries of history. Next, step into the Casa Aliaga, a colonial mansion granted in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro to Captain Jerónimo de Aliaga. Remarkably, this house has remained within the same family for generations, offering a unique glimpse into Peru’s past.

Continue your cultural immersion at the renowned Larco Museum, located in the traditional Pueblo Libre district. This treasure trove of history is housed in a beautifully restored viceregal mansion built atop a seventh-century pre-Columbian pyramid. Inside, discover the most comprehensive collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silver artefacts, as well as a captivating display of erotic art, showcasing Peru’s rich and diverse heritage.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure—relax, explore more of Lima at your own pace, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this fascinating city.

Overnight in Lima.

Day 4 : LIMA – CUSCO

After a delicious breakfast, begin your day with a smooth and comfortable transfer from your hotel to Lima Airport, where you'll board a flight to the enchanting city of Cusco.

Upon arrival in Cusco, a friendly representative will greet you and transfer you to your selected hotel. Take some time to settle in and adjust to the breathtaking altitude of this historic city, once the capital of the Inca Empire.

In the afternoon, embark on a fascinating guided tour of Cusco, a city brimming with history and cultural treasures. Begin your journey at the Santo Domingo Convent, an impressive Renaissance-Baroque complex built upon the foundations of the Coricancha temple, once dedicated to worshipping the sun. According to ancient chronicles, this sacred temple was adorned with gold leaf and filled with golden representations of nature—an awe-inspiring testament to the Inca's devotion and craftsmanship.

Continue your exploration at the Cusco Cathedral, a magnificent landmark dominating the Main Square. Its grand architecture and intricate details make it one of the most iconic monuments in the city.

Next, head to the hills above Cusco to visit the formidable Sacsayhuaman fortress, where the imposing stone ramparts offer stunning panoramic views of the city below. From here, journey to the mysterious temple and amphitheatre of Qenqo, thought to be a site of Inca agricultural rituals, and marvel at its intriguing design.

Finally, visit Puka Pukara, or the 'Red Fortress,' an ancient military complex perched on a prominent hill. Explore its intricate network of dwellings, squares, aqueducts, and towers, which still stand as a testament to Inca ingenuity.

After a day filled with captivating discoveries, return to your hotel and relax in the comfort of this historic city.

Overnight in Cusco.

Day 5 : CUSCO – MORAY – MARAS – SACRED VALLEY

After a satisfying breakfast at the hotel, set off on a scenic journey through the breathtaking Sacred Valley, heading towards one of the most intriguing archaeological sites in the region—Moray. Located approximately an hour and a half away, this fascinating site boasts concentric circular terraces of varying widths. While its exact purpose remains a mystery, historians believe the design created unique microclimates at each level, potentially serving as an agricultural laboratory for the Incas.

Next, continue to the captivating Maras salt ponds, a dazzling mosaic of thousands of small, glimmering pools. These salt deposits have supported local families for generations, providing both sustenance and livelihood. During the Inca Empire, the salt from Maras was a vital economic resource, playing a significant role in the imperial economy.

After immersing yourself in the history and culture of these remarkable sites, enjoy a comfortable transfer to your hotel nestled in the Sacred Valley, where you can relax and soak in the serene surroundings.

Overnight in Sacred Valley.

Day 6 : SACRED VALLEY – CHINCHERO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – SACRED VALLEY

Start your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a journey to explore the charming town of Chinchero. Known as a traditional Cusco urban centre, Chinchero offers stunning views of the Sacred Valley and is a treasure trove of Inca heritage. Here, the ancient traditions of the Incas are preserved in the vibrant textiles, clothing, and customs of the locals. Wander through the town to admire its archaeological sites and visit the picturesque 17th-century church, one of the first Catholic buildings in Peru, steeped in history and cultural significance.

Next, head to the Living Museum of Yucay, an interactive centre dedicated to preserving Andean traditions. Watch artisans at work as they craft textiles, pottery, adobe, and silverware using techniques passed down through generations. The museum is also home to llamas, sheep, and alpacas, which you can feed—a delightful experience that connects you with the essence of Andean life.

Pause for lunch in Ollantaytambo, where you’ll savour a superior Andean gastronomic experience. Enjoy delicious cuisine in a cosy restaurant that embodies the spirit of the Sacred Valley, making your meal a memorable part of the journey.

After lunch, explore the town of Ollantaytambo, an ancient settlement that has been continuously inhabited since the time of the Incas. Climb to the iconic fortress nestled against the mountainside, marvelling at its architectural ingenuity and the panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

After an enriching day, transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley to relax and unwind in its serene environment.

Overnight in Sacred Valley.

Day 7 : SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure.

You’ll be transferred to Ollanta Station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Upon arrival, take a scenic 25-minute coach ride to the legendary Machu Picchu, often referred to as the ‘Lost City of the Incas’.

This awe-inspiring citadel, believed to have been constructed in the 1450s by Inca emperor Pachacuti as a holiday retreat, was mysteriously abandoned within a century. Remarkably, it was never discovered by the Spanish conquistadors, sparing it from the destruction faced by many other Inca sites. Over the centuries, the jungle enveloped the city, preserving its grandeur and mystery.

Embark on a guided tour to uncover the history and significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its prominent landmarks, including the monumental Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial, and the Burial Grounds, each revealing fascinating insights into Inca civilisation.

After your exploration, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at the renowned Café Inkaterra, a charming thatched-roof restaurant nestled between the railway and a towering mountain. Savour a memorable meal in this unique setting before heading back to the station in the afternoon.

Board the train to Ollanta Station, where you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Cusco to relax and reflect on the day’s incredible experiences.
