It is decorated with no less than 2,672 relief panels and has 504 Buddha statues of varying types. The main dome sits in the centre of the top platform and is surrounded by 72 stupas each containing a Buddha statue. Only when visiting in person will you get a true appreciation of its immensity and stunning design, a highly recommended stop for anyone going through Java.

Malang

Malang city East Java moves at a far more leisurely pace than the regional capital, Surabaya, sprawling over the hilltops with the cool refreshing air and the grace of an overgrown market town. It is a cultured city with several important universities and home to a large student population.

Jodipan

Located in the city of Malang, Jodipan is undoubtedly the most colorful town in all of Indonesia; it is hard to articulate just how colorful this place is no alleyway, wall, roofs or sidewalk is spared by beautiful colors, patterns and designs. A delightful place to walk through and a good example of how something simple can add so much color to daily life.

Bromo

Mt. Bromo is located in East Java and sits in the middle of a plain called Seara Wedi or Sea of Sand. At a height of 2,329m, the mountain might not be the tallest in Indonesia but is arguably one of the most popular offering a wide range of great treks leading to stunning views and many other exciting activities such as dirtbiking, horse rides and more. One of the most visited times of day is in the early mornings as the sunrise from the top of this mountain is renowned and incredibly picturesque.

You will board a jeep that will take you on a drive around Jemplang area. This area is famous for visitors going to Bromo, where you can take a walk in the savannah after some driving. You can also take a walk at the famous Whispering Sand or Pasir Berbisik before going to your hotel in Bromo.

Surabaya

Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia and is known as the city of Heroes due to its history in the struggle for Indonesian independence from the colonizers. The name Surabaya is inspired by the mythical battle between Sura (shark) and Baya (crocodile). The balance between modernity and history, makes this city worth visiting. With some notable locations being the Heroes Monument, Submarine monument, House of Sampoerna museum, Ampel mosque and Arab quarter.

Day 8 : SURABAYA - UBUD

Day 10 : UBUD: FREE DAY

Morning class starts with a trip to a local market. In Bali Markets open early, The food markets are a great way to introduce students to Bali culture and lifestyle. The Chef will explain about Balinese tastes and customs, local meat, fish, and produce, finding unique ingredients and, of course, Balinese-style bargaining! Learn the secrets of buying fresh ingredients in a traditional, – what to select and what to reject. Touring a traditional outdoor market provides insight both into how Balinese people approach cooking and how many spend their day. These lessons are as important as those in the kitchen.

The Balinese Cooking Class that we offer is completely hands-on and conducted in English, students will be provided their own cooking station and utensils to prepare and cook all of the dishes by themselves. The class is limited to a maximum of ten participants per class to ensure individual attention for everyone.

Day 11 : UBUD - SANUR

Today you will go from Ubud to Sanur. A private car with driver is available for this trip. On the way to Sanur, you will visit some nice waterfalls and enjoy lunch with the local.

Please note, that entrance fees are excluded unless mentioned otherwise below. Your route may be discussed with the driver during the day of travel. Duration of your private charter car is 10 hours commencing from your pickup time.

Tibumana Waterfall:

Tibumana Waterfall Bali is one of the most beautiful hidden waterfalls near Ubud. Luckily, only a few people know about it. It’s getting harder and harder to find secluded places in Bali since tourism is on the rise. When you’ll get closer to Tibumana Waterfall, you’ll notice endless rice fields and palm trees. You may have a chance to take a sneak peak inside the local people’s daily lives. You’ll see Balinese people taking care of their animals or wandering around the rice fields. Definitely something to remember!

Goa Rang Reng Waterfall is a lovely relaxing spot, the peaceful natural surrounds make it an ideal escape from busy traffic-clogged Ubud. Goa Rang Reng flows down at a gentle angle. The appealing falls are not high and are more like a web of steep rapids than a single torrent. There is a natural pool at the top of the waterfall where you can relax and swim.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

It may not be the most known waterfalls in Bali Kanto Lampo is still a stunning place to visit when exploring the Ubud area. Tucked away in the jungles of the island visiting this waterfall can make an escape to Bali even more complete with a sense of peaceful tranquility that comes over those who visit. The best way to fully immerse in the experience is to wade through the waters to get front row seats to the waterworks it unfurls.

Happy Local - Lunch with Locals :

Before lunch, you will get  a guided tour through the family compound by your host. You will learn that there are more than one family living within the compound.  When a son of the family marries, his wife usually moves into this compound, so a compound is a place for extended families, each with their own sleeping quarters, but otherwise sharing the facilities. You will be served lunch and you can choose to eat with your hands just like the Balinese. Family members drop in to enjoy the food, but will find their place to eat anywhere in the compound. Food is freshly cooked in the family kitchen and you also may learn how to cook it. Selamat Makan.

Day 12 : SANUR

Optional Activity (excluded in your program) - White Sandy Cliff Beaches and Uluwatu Temple:

This tour will be visiting 2 remote beaches and includes lunch in a nice setting overlooking the sea.

The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel and drives to Uluwatu temple. From Sanur, this will take approximately 60 minutes, from Jimbaran for about 30 minutes. Uluwatu is one of the key temples of Bali. The Uluwatu temple is set on a 70-meter high cliff edge with an exotic temple shrine silhouette against the sky and ocean backdrop.

From here the driver will bring you to the hidden beach. You will not be directly on the beach when stepping out of the car. You arrive at the parking area. The parking is on the cliff edge with a temple overlooking the ocean. If you bring a sash and sarong you can visit the temple too. From the parking, you need to walk approximately 250 steep steps with great panoramic views along the way. When you arrive at the white sandy beach with turquoise water and no mass tourism you know that it was worth the effort. You can cool off in the sea and warm up in the sun or find a place in the shade of the overhanging rocks. The beach has no tourist facilities such as selling food and drinks. This implements that you need to bring enough drinking (water) and bring along some snacks. There are no sunbeds or beach umbrella's, it's a pure natural beach! At extreme high tide, it can happen that the beach will only be a very narrow stretch. But the tide will change and the beach will be broad again.

If you have had enough beach time and you are getting hungry, it's time to walk back up to the parking where your driver will be waiting. It is highly recommended to replenish yourself with fresh coconut water which will be offered at the parking.

From here drive in 20 minutes to lunch, combined with the next hidden beach. The lunch will be served with a view of the sea. Including with the lunch is the use of the pool + pool towel and the shower Another staircase, and not so long and steep this time, will lead you from the restaurant through the jungle to a secret beach. You can take a shower to fresh up after the beach before we will bring you to one of the most romantic sunset pictures in Bali. It is a popular spot for wedding pictures, and beside the view is lovely the pre-wedding pictures are fun to watch.

From this spot you are back in Jimbaran in 15 minutes, and back to Sanur in 30 minutes' time.Take with you: enough water, some snacks, sun protection, towel, bathing suit, and camera.
