Upon arrival, our private tour guide and the vehicle will welcome you at the airport and then we transfer to the city center. Check-in at your hotel from 14:00 onward and free time.

Day 3 : HANOI CITY TOUR

After breakfast, we visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, inclusive of Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, as well as his private residence from 1954 until 1969. The wooden ethnic minority-style house, which was built on stilts, is surrounded by lovely peaceful gardens. In the same complex, you will see the One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049. This structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi. Continue to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on a small peninsula on the East side of the dazzling West Lake, this is the most ancient pagoda in Hanoi with a history line of more than 1,500 years.

Then, we visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. Constructed in 1070, the gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past. Continue to visit the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake and then take a leisure cyclo around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, a fascinating network of narrow alleys and shop houses also known as ‘The 36 Streets’ – each street being named after the merchandise traditionally sold there, ranging from fabrics, medicines to crafts.

Day 4 : HANOI - MAI CHAU - SHORT HIKING TRIP

In the morning, our driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive 4 hours to Mai Chau. We will stop en route for you to enjoy the scenic panorama over Mai Chau Valley. Afternoon, hike around the villages full of house-on-stilts, pretty handmade textile products, and vast paddy fields to enjoy the routine life of the Thai people. The beauty and attractiveness of this valley are famous everywhere in Vietnam, starting from poems praising over its special sticky rice aroma, and lasting with easy access for motorbikers, bikers, trekking lovers, and mountain climbers. This is the homeland of the Thai people, one of the most civilized ethnic groups of Vietnam, which is homogenous with the Thai residing in Laos and Thailand. Though the Thai are living in several provinces, Mai Chau is the nearest place to Hanoi where you can meet their graceful, clean houses-on-stilts with small fishpools upfront, paddy fields next door, and long rainforests in walking distance from villages.

Day 5 : MAI CHAU - PU LUONG

In the morning, get up early to get some fresh air and exercise before breakfast. Check out and depart to Pu Luong (approx.. 1,5 hours drive). Along the way, you will pass by Pu Luong Nature Reserve by road via a breathtaking mountain pass giving you a panoramic view of the whole valley. Arrive at your accommodation followed by free time to explore the beautiful retreat, with its captivating panoramic views and tranquil setting.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to a suspension bridge over the Cham River, where you begin your walk in search of stunning water wheels. Get up close to each wheel and discover how water is moved from river to handmade bamboo aqueducts via simple constructions of all sizes. Return to your accommodation and free time.

Day 6 : PU LUONG - HIKING TOUR

This is a great experience combining trek and cycling. We start to descend into the beautiful valley facing the Retreat, where you can walk around tumbling rice terraces. Then we will go along small paths shrouded in vegetation to slowly reveal a picturesque Uoi village at the base of a towering mountain. It is the only place offering the bird's-eye view from the top of the pass. Continue walking downhill to a local home, where you can take a bike to cycle around Lan village. Lặn is tranquil and famous for its embroidery craft job. A small stream with water from far most mountains winds the houses creating a bunch of outdoor nature bathing places for villagers after long farming days and cycling through the rice paddies and village to village, hanging bridge to explore more the scenic landscapes surrounding. You will end up at Hieu Village, and enjoy the Hieu waterfall, the only one in the reserve. Return to your accommodation.

Day 7 : PU LUONG - NINH BINH

After breakfast, take a short hike (approx. 1-2 hours) from the retreat to Dong Dieng village, going down into the most beautiful valley in Puluong. Along the way, you will have a chance to enjoy beautiful terrace rice fields and gorgeous mountains. Take a scenic trail winding to have a look at the landscape of rice fields and the village, which were widened in your eyes. You will pass some homes on the way, you can come to visit any local family if you want, this is a great chance to learn more about the lifestyle and culture of the locals. After that, drive to Ninh Binh (approx..3 hours). Check-in your hotel and free time.

Day 8 : NINH BINH

After breakfast, we drive to Hoa Lu thru tranquil villages to enjoy the daily life of people in Ninh Binh. Hoa Lu was the ancient capital of Vietnam for 41 years (968 – 1009), of which 12 years was under the Dinh dynasty – King Dinh Tien Hoang, and 29 years later was under the Le dynasty – King Le Dai Hanh. In Hoa Lu now, 2 temples have been built on the ground of the old royal palace, one is dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang, and the other is to King Le Dai Hanh. The visit offers a chance to know more about part of feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history.

In the afternoon, we start the leisure 2 hour-boat trip to visit Tam Coc. Known as “Halong Bay on land”, Tam Coc are three limestone caves stretching along Ngo Dong river. The boat trip is a nice journey along the river with peaceful scenery of Limestone Mountains, rice paddy and the site of some temples along the way from Hang Ca (first cave) to Hang Hai (second cave) and Hang Ba (third cave). Afterwards, if time permits, visit Mua Cave and start an amazing trek up to the top of Ngoa Long mountain (142meters height, 486 steps, approx..1 hour climb) for watching the spectacular Tam Coc area from above with specious view of the nature.

Day 9 : NINH BINH - HALONG BAY

After breakfast, we drive (approx..3,5 hours) to Halong Bay, a Natural World Heritage as designated by UNESCO in 1994 and 2006. Upon arrival in Halong, we check in on the overnight cruise to discover the magnificent beauty of this “Descending-dragon” bay, created by thousands of odd-shaped limestone rocks and karst grottoes. After lunch on board, we can visit the Grottos, stop for swimming or kayaking pass floating houses, and approach islets to enjoy their beauty in close distance. Back to the cruise, enjoy the cooking demonstration before having dinner. Evening attend activities on the boat or relax at your leisure.

Day 10 : HALONG BAY - HANOI - HUE (FLIGHT)

Have breakfast on board. This morning, we visited by boat to Luon Cave, a ring-shaped pool inside an island in Halong with a tranquil landscape and emerald water. Back to the Wharf of Halong passing the most densely area with many islands that have been named like the Cock-Fighting Rock, Sail Island, Incense Burner Rock, or Sea Dog Rock. Early lunch/brunch will be served on board.

Arrive at Halong Wharf around noon time, we return to Noi Bai Airport to catch your flight to Hue. On arrival, meet our guide and driver to check in the hotel and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 11 : HUE

Being recognized by UNESCO as the 1st Cultural World Heritage for Vietnam, Hue is highlighted by the old royal architectural works and the most traditional Vietnamese lifestyle. Today, we will discover the charm of the city from the Citadel Complex of Hue, set up by the Nguyen Dynasty from 1805 to 1945, which is now one of the relics of Hue's ancient Capital – the World Cultural Heritage. This is a huge complex covering an area of 520ha and comprising three circles of ramparts, Kinh Thanh Hue (Hue Capital Citadel), Hoang Thanh (Royal Citadel), and Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Citadel). Also, visit the Dong Ba bustling market.

This afternoon, take a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu pagoda, the iconic seven-story pagoda is regarded as the unofficial symbol of the city. We then visit the Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang located on the west bank of the Perfume River. Minh Mang's tomb was built in 1840 and completed in 1843 with the effort of ten thousand workers and artisans. The Tomb offers a balance of nature and structures that is unmatched among tombs in Hue. The solemn and quiet architecture set in a poetic landscape demonstrates both the Emperor's strictness and deep beliefs. Continue visiting Hue with Emperor Khai Dinh’s Tomb, the most elaborate Tomb, built from 1920 – 1931. This is the smallest tomb (48.5X117m) of the Nguyen Emperors, but took the longest time and cost a lot of money to build. This is the only tomb built with the blended architecture of Oriental & Western Styles.

Day 12 : HUE - SAIGON

At the appointed time, transfer to Phu Bai Airport to catch your flight to Saigon. On arrival, meet your guide and driver to transfer to your hotel.

Day 13 : SAIGON

After breakfast, begin our city tour at the Reunification Palace. Formerly the Independence Palace of the South Vietnamese president, this 60s style was famously stormed by tanks on April 30, 1975, signifying the fall of South Vietnam. It has been preserved in its original state, and the original tanks remain on display near the entrance gates. Pass by classic European-style landmarks such as the ornate City Hall (Hotel De Ville), and the old Opera House (both may only be viewed from the outside), and pay a quick visit to the neo-Romanesque Notredame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. You will then visit the central Ben Thanh Market, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts, appealing to every taste. After that, visit the harrowing War Remnants Museum, which comprehensively documents the travails of the long Vietnam-American War. Inside are detailed photographic exhibitions; outside is a collection of tanks, planes, and weapons. A powerful experience, this museum is guaranteed to provoke strong emotions. We then head out to Cholon (Chinatown), which makes Saigon different from other cities in Vietnam. Explore the highlights of this fascinating area, beginning with Thien Hau Pagoda, built by the Cantonese congregation and dedicated to the heavenly goddess. End the day at Binh Tay Market, the vast wholesale market selling every kind of good from dried foods to T-shirts to electronics.

Day 14 : SAIGON

After breakfast, we visited to Cu Chi tunnels – the network of over 200km of tunnels became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens. After a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed, we're invited to enter a section of the tunnels to witness the secrets of the tunnels firsthand. Our guide will also show us various mantraps employed from this period, the remains of an American tank, and numerous B52 bomb craters. There is also the opportunity to fire an M60, M16, or AK47 rifle at the range next to the tunnel complex (bullets to be purchased on the spot). Return to your hotel. Free time at your leisure in the afternoon.

Day 15 : SAIGON - MY THO - CAN THO

After breakfast, we head to My Tho, and stop on the way to visit Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the biggest pagodas in the region. The beautiful structure features a mixture of Chinese, Vietnamese, and Angkor (Cambodian) architectural styles. My Tho is the homeland of coconut and local products like coconut candy, and rice paper, … Upon arrival, embark on the boat cruising on the mighty Mekong River viewing the life of the local people living along the banks. We stop at one of the 4 islands in the area for sightseeing. Continuing to Xếp canal in Bến Tre province to row a small boat (sampan) along a beautiful natural canal and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in the countryside. Having some tropical fruits, honey tea, and enjoying traditional music… Taking tuk-tuk along the village road to visit a coconut candy workshop. Lunch at a local restaurant (set menu) including the Mekong’s signature dish – deep-fried Elephant-Ear fish. After that, transfer to your hotel in Can Tho.

Day 16 : CAN THO – RACH GIA – PHU QUOC

Today, you will transfer from Can Tho to Rach Gia to take the speed boat to Phu Quoc. Upon arrival at the pier, meet your guide and driver to transfer to your hotel.

UK passport holders are exempt of this requirement for stays up to 15 days.

Cambodia Visa : To have a better experience, we recommend that you apply for your tourist visa for Cambodia online as it will reduce your transit time at the border control.

You can obtain your Cambodian tourist visa in the following ways:

  1. Online: Apply for your E-VISA for Cambodia at least 7 days before your holiday. Click on this link https://www.evisa.gov.kh and select ‘VISA T’, the cost is approximately USD $36. The port of entry will be the port of entry in border control as per your itinerary. 
  2. On Arrival: If for any reason you are unable to procure your Cambodian e-visa online don’t worry, you will have an option to gain a visa at the Cambodian border control on arrival. We recommend that you bring a ‘passport’ photo (35 x 45 mm) with you and USD $36 for the payment.

While a Cambodian Visa can also be procured at the destination, VIETNAM VISA MUST BE PROCURED IN ADVANCE TO BE ABLE TO ENTER THE COUNTRY. (Required for Irish passport holders).

Passport : Please note that your passport MUST be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the validation date of your visa.
