Month by month guide visiting Oman
Jan- Feb
With cooler temperatures, January to February is one of the perfect times to go to Oman. Although there are short, sharp showers that aren’t predictable, they shouldn’t interrupt your trip. It is the time of New Year, so hotels will be busier and have higher prices, so book in advance. Festivals like the Muscat Festival take place.
Mar- Apr
March and April are an ideal time to visit Oman as the temperatures are warm but haven’t reached the peak of summer yet. Although it is warmer, this time of year won’t be as busy as November- February. The blooming season takes place.
May
May is a month between cooler and excessive heat, but even though the temperatures are warm, humidity levels are lower. May is also the start of the fruit season, so there are many more options to choose from a variety of fruits. The Apricot Harvest takes place.
Jun- Aug
The summer months are excessively hot and humid in Oman, so this is not a recommended period you should visit Oman. In the south, the monsoon season hits, making it cooler but more humid. However, hotels lower the prices during this time of year, so it is relatively cheap to visit.
Sep
The weather is still warm, but cooler than June and August. The prices remain lower till the winter months. Around Salalah, many migratory bird species migrate around this time of year. Lower visitor numbers and cooler temperatures make it an ideal time to visit Oman in September. The Autumn Harvest takes place.
Oct- Nov
Travelling in October and November is way more comfortable with temperatures cooler than the summer months, however, it makes the country busier with more visitors.
Dec
During the Christmas season in Oman, the country gets busy, with temperatures at their coldest out of the whole year at 20 degrees Celsius, but in some areas, there aren’t enough heating facilities so be cautious when visiting around now. Christmas and New Year are very popular in Oman, especially in Muscat. We advise you to book in advance as hotels raise the prices and to get the best selection of accommodation.
